Energy Independence For Israel

Israel Energy Initiatives, an Israeli Company based in Jerusalem has developed an approach to produce clean transportation fuels from oil shale. Israel's Shfela basin, where IEI is planning to construct a pilot test facility in 2013, contains an estimated 150 billion barrels of oil equivalent. Development of Israel's oil shale resources is essential to liberate Israel from dependence on foreign oil.

Of course renewable energy is the way to go and as it becomes more cost effective it will become more popular in Israel. At the same time Israel will become self sufficient and not have to rely on foreign hostile energy sources.
