Tu B'Shvat - In Machane Yehuda Market Jerusalem

While looking for an apartment in Nachlaot, we stopped by the Machane Yehuda market in Jerusalem. All the vendors were ready of Tu B'Shvat, the new year for trees in Israel. The stalls were bursting with fresh fruits and dried fruit of all types: from juicy pomegranates to dried figs, and even dried kiwi. While the Jewish people were in exile, the land of Israel lay barren, now that we have come back, the Land is bringing forth her fruits to her People. The Talmud in Sanhedrin 98a says there is no surer sign of the coming redemption than this.
